Hamish Corbett-Hains, PEng

Hamish Corbett-Hains is a Principal Engineer based in Ontario with more than 13 years of experience focused on developing client-focused air-quality solutions.

With significant experience permitting complex industrial sites across Canada, Hamish also conducts environmental assessments for the transportation and aggregate sectors, leads land-use compatibility assessments, and supports net-zero projects. On behalf of clients, Hamish conducts air dispersion modeling, develops emissions inventories, and leads regulatory strategy development.

Industrial and development clients turn to Hamish because he creates practical solutions to their problems using a systems approach. In this way, he adds significant value to his clients throughout the land-use planning process and collaborates with clients and other stakeholders to improve Ontario’s housing supply.

Hamish often helps develop innovative approaches and applies them to complex projects. He has presented novel technical approaches to air-quality projects at conferences in Canada and the United States, including an approach to modeling air-quality concentrations on complex theoretical structures and a method for rapidly evaluating the results of prognostic meteorological models. In addition, he applied a novel approach to complex dispersion modeling evaluations at an Environmental Assessment in British Columbia, which saved significant costs and time for the client and allowed for greater flexibility in presenting the results to regulators.

Hamish has served as an executive on the board of directors of the Ontario Section of the Air and Waste Management Association. He is a member of the Core Practitioners Group, Ontario, air-quality engineers who provide feedback and recommendations on the regulatory landscape to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks. Additionally, Hamish previously served as the Government Liaison representative for Professional Engineers Ontario in the Guelph riding electoral district.
