Ian Richardson, M.A.Sc., P.Eng., P.E.

Ian is a Senior Principal based in Ontario with more than 35 years of experience developing remedial strategies and negotiating and implementing remedial action at complex sites in Canada and the United States.

His work has included coordination of stakeholders and large multi-consultant project teams; environmental site assessments including landfills, emerging contaminants, complex groundwater investigations, and land redevelopment; as well as negotiation, design, and implementation of comprehensive remedial programs under various regulatory programs across North America.

Clients regularly contact Ian when they have encountered problems or their progress has been stalled due to factors including incomplete site conceptual models, strained regulatory or stakeholder relationships, and unclear strategy for project success. Ian brings a practical approach to assessing and then working to resolve the key underlying issues. Ian has also participated on longstanding strategy review teams for several key clients.

Ian has also taken a leadership position in the development of enterprise level environmental data management and visualization programs for several key clients as well as comprehensive operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M) program development.

To advance the state of the practice, Ian has been instrumental in the Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council's (ITRC) Remediation Management of Complex Sites team where he helped develop a technical guidance document for state environmental regulators.
